Native Broach – Written Wednesday 20th September 2023 (Aged 48)

Native Broach

do you see my anxiety and worry?
i can tell you,
that it has a newsstand approach
it has deep coloured eyes
and it i wear it like a native broach
i know,
i am loved up with my own self mask
and my breathless confidence,
is happy to take part
but there is anxiety in me
and feelings, ideas all of which pull me in
i know,
showing off –
is my favourite competition entry
lap me up though,
and i will be plenty
but the sugar inside of me
has now turned to salt and dust
i worry about everything,
and my nature is easily fussed
i know,
my over bearing feels like over sharing
and that my limited script of jokes
is really quite waring
but often i wonder,
just how am i faring?
do you see my anxiety and worry?
how it develops and presents itself,
and how sometimes, it does need to say sorry
anxiety and worry,
i feel it seep and i feel it encroach,
and that is why i wonder if you see it,
because to me, i wear it like a native broach
