Tick Box Exercise – Written Wednesday 20th December 2023 (Aged 48)

Tick Box Exercise

in my thirties,
i did feel content,
but fate…
clearly held me in contempt
from disasters,
i was never truly exempt
if only my collective mental health
has been more well meant
if only my skills,
has been properly sent
and advice from me,
has been properly lent
because in my thirties
everything ended up so hell bent

in my thirties.
i was caught with my checklist
after the days,
when my toxicity was heavily pissed
when marriage,
was a must have fit
when the light of love,
was easily lit,
but then the bulb started to dim
and the switch no longer had a click
and the lollipop,
soon lost its lick
those days in my thirties
somehow, they are not so missed
