Strip Back The Ego

have you got my wiring diagram?
i used to have it,
i am sure, in my hands
i know i had it there
but i just could not understand

have you got the label?
the one in the back of my brain
the one that has the instructions
the one that got blamed

i have not much to say,
stuck in my trifles of self doubt
lost in an idea,
that i should scream and shout
pickled by my own philosophies
wondering what this is all about
catching a cold,
and lost to one more bout
i need a personality,
one that has some meaningful clout

have you got my instructions?
i had them,
honest, i swear
i put them down, right next to our bed
and now, now they are not there
why don’t you colour in my tears –
as they fall to the floor
loving you is my love,
and that at least, decorates my core
