Elastic Bands

why are emotions –
built out of elastic bands?
and why is time –
so hard to man?
i wonder –
what muddy roads –
we must travel?

why are emotions –
just like sourdough
why is time –
all at once, both fast and slow?
do you know?
i wonder –
if, inside your brain
there is a speedway –
where you race in the rain
hoping,
for a much safer lane

why are emotions –
built out of elastic bands?
why are people,
so tied to their personal lands
i wonder –
what muddy roads –
we must travel
as i sit here,
traying to unravel elastic bands
