Falling Leaves – Written Tuesday 13th February 2024 (Aged 48)

Falling Leaves

these days are autumn like
and it’s enough just to manage me
i do not have to put the world to rights
it’s just enough to manage
let those culture wars float out to sea
and the the past people,
some of whom i used to be
let them go,
let them go on their way
right now these days feel like an autumn
and maybe in my head,
some of the things that once existed
have parted company –
with the parts which were painfully twisted
these days it’s just enough to manage me
it’s just enough to hang onto clouds
and it’s just enough to feel
because the world is full of people
who are convinced that they are right
and it’s full of people,
who tell me that they are correct
but these days with their falling leaves
they are just enough,
and as you place your hand upon my knee
that is just enough for me to make my way
and just enough so i can manage me
