Acid Drops – Written Tuesday 19th September 2023 (Aged 48)

Acid Drops

i have dipped my wit,
in caustic soda
and acid drops,
refresh my boundless sarcasm
humour is a hole filler,
never a chasm
i have perfected my mask
put keen observations out to task
i see you,
i see you legless and shameless
with secondhand lightning
that appears almost blameless
who are we now?
our former personas of plasticine gods
feel lost and broken,
as if time,
just for once was actually frozen
but it was okay
i have built a joke book
from ragged trauma and blown glass
i have chiseled out my comedy
and turned it into a relative farce
do not worry,
you are keenly observed
and your life covered in muddy robes
as your past becomes a phantasm
i have dipped my words,
in flowery bleach
and wicked bubble bath
which soaks my endless sarcasm
but never my stubborn past
