This Is Your Life

this is your life
the walls,
not painted white
this is your life
hold it aloft –
amongst the steady flock
caught between a hard place
and a classical rock
this is your life
i know,
i have seen the view
i hold up play,
but sometimes drop the ball
i practice my lengths,
and clamber into the pool
this is your life
it is cautious but very kind
evangelical,
but good at counting time
full of words,
with occasional well placed rhyme
this is your life
it’s yours and mine
