Success is Context – Failure is no Contest

success is context
a weary kiss and tell
it’s not the captain of the ship
just the ship’s bell
what am i?
but an explorer caught in a theme park –
of life experience
listening to the sounds of life
and the rattle of acceptance
here i am,
mud boots and creased hands
knowing that what there is,
is tracing paper in our hands
success is context,
one which is hard to understand
maybe foreign ghosts –
will let me have some lands
here i am,
bowling down the lane –
of what appears to be a remarkable life
one of cutlery drawers,
and foraging knives
what can i do?
but dance to illogical tunes
and a haberdashery style beat
caught as i am,
in bars of pure delight
with my factory smile,
bathed in creative light
success is context,
a weary story that could come true
but failure is no contest,
it rattles a battered charity tin in my face
and i have felt the sheer breath of its hue
