Bundle of Nerves

could you catch me if i fell back
if i was a runaway train
change the signal,
and put me back on track
could you help me if i fell apart
and become just too many pieces
could you write me a letter
one containing your personal thesis
could you catch me if i fell back
if i was over-run with a deadly attack
would you build me a fort
and then, push the enemy back
let me be held,
and then, let me be contained,
i am a bundle of nerves,
tied up in my useless childhood blame
i am a person who feels alive,
and yet, at once, one who is clothed in shame
could you catch me if i fell back
if the wolves were at our door
and i need someone to hold off the pack
would you be my personal magician
and pull something out of the hat
