Cast of Many

i have been a cast of many –
in this, my own life
lived in the dark,
danced awkwardly,
in the light
feeling dim,
feeling bright
i have been a cast of many –
in this, my own life
lived away from home,
learned to write,
losing control,
but hanging on tight
losing people,
holes that never change
as loved ones
no longer hold tight
i have been a cast of many –
in this, my own life
tears have fallen,
but it’s been okay
nights have felt like days
and days have felt like nights
i have been a cast of many –
in this, my own life
and i know,
you have been so many people too
now it is us,
just us, just me and you
