Sprawled on the Floor – Written Thursday 11th April 2024 (Aged 49)

Sprawled on the Floor

i leave my ego sprawled on the floor
my fundamental being,
burrows into its core
my belief system lays down in the landing
i always hope,
that people are understanding
and that every church bell,
will ring out in joy
i run to the shore on a beach i once knew
i shop in a store,
where my dreams once flew
i start an investigation covered in a clever hue
and as clocks continue,
i do wonder what i ever knew,
about a world,
where i appear to be wearing hobnail shoes
i leave my ego sprawled on the floor
and every movement in the rain,
feels like a coat that i once wore
and now,
every ambition tries to carve out new doors
but there is no fooling the inner self
i leave my ego sprawled on the floor
and ignore its pleas that in reality i am someone else
