Overcast Skies
sometimes i need reassurance
not insurance,
but assurance
not chance,
but a close knit dance
not lethargy,
but a day out at the ranch
a feeling of safety
without my mental health falling apart
and safety,
that has to be more than a bit part
those days,
the ones with the overcast skies –
that eventually rolled over and went to bed
or retreated,
and ended up dead
i bet you remember all the words –
former companions once said
but somewhere and sometimes –
the assumption of robustness
and of resilience,
is in fact never truly devoid of rust
and it is never free from fragility
sometimes, I just need that reassurance
in an often, tracing paper like reality
of personal monsters,
and quickening insanity
