The Road Back To Happiness
they are broken relationships
tokens,
and tokens which do not cover
friends,
who turned into lovers
people who had something to lend
but when we pulled back the covers
struggled to to turn back into friends
the houses we bought, provide some cover
but the child born learns to decorate
and paper over human cracks
middle age shows them a film
one of a life which is looking back
we yearn and we ache for love
for connection,
escapism claims it is a cartographer
what to do…
they smile with the type of smile that is caught
and caught in rushing tears
but, but there is no true compensation
for all of those lost years
