I Was There Once

I was there once,
You know,
There,
That place with the much sadder eyes,
The place with a lack of dutiful care.

I spoke with her,
For the first time in many years.
Guilt, it finally waved me through,
And the idea of,
It’s not me but you,
Found a resonance,
And finally, it felt true.
