It’s Nice To See You Smiling

someone said,
“it’s nice to see you smiling,”
turmoil though…
rumbles inside.
it’s just,
it’s become something –
i have learned to hide.
it helps,
to keep me alive.
because i am in a situation –
where i find myself in a corner,
doing things –
i don’t really want to do,
but accepting less,
will not make my dreams come true.
someone said,
“it’s nice to see you smiling,”
but i am –
just pulling myself along,
like a shopping trolley –
with turmoil inside,
which right now is the one thing –
i can just about hide.
but,
i have to set out my hope,
make plans,
not be consumed by my own smoke.
but here,
here in this corner where i am trapped,
i need to find a way out,
as i struggle to cover my back.
