Driven by Deficits
Driven by deficits,
not by strengths,
or even positives,
or even swimming pool lengths.
Fuel your personal engine,
but it has a lack of trust—
one that cannot hide
all that is rough.
Fuel your personal engine,
yet it proves to be too much.
Watch as hands grasp at straws,
watch as you clutch,
and watch as you fail
to open any of our doors.
Driven by deficits,
not by strengths—
everything is barbed,
and nothing you say
ever feels that well meant.
