Free Market Storm Clouds
Back in those days,
I slept in a different way.
I was young,
and caught in younger clouds—
the kind that sort of hint that a storm is coming,
but we just did not know
and we could have never known
And the world then
was only partly electronic.
We were the final wisps of an analogue age,
the final people to manually turn a page.
But our computerised childhood
was made in a shifting land—
where free markets became everything,
where greed was good,
where money was king,
where free markets, as I said,
were everything.
Now we live with the consequences—
the type that others have to pay for.
That is why we live in a world of such division,
and that is why no one
is really that sure.
