People Can Easily See In
The shyness is never far,
but really it’s not shyness —
it’s actually a desire for privacy.
And those two are very, very different.
I am looking for a way
to shield from the many versions of reality.
That is because I feel constantly exposed,
constantly on show,
more than perhaps I will ever really know.
I am caught in auras of subtle kin,
as if people can easily see in.
But life, whether we like it or not,
propels us forwards.
You go to sleep,
and then you wake up.
And then you put on your face,
and sometimes, when you feel able,
you agree to smile.
And there are days when you wake up
and you do not know where to begin.
And those are the days
when you are constantly reminded
that you have a feeling
that people can easily see in.
