when you brush past
and in your tactile way
you touch my arm
something happens inside
and the time stops still

gather up your things
and start again
find yourself,
a prevailing wind

oh, i know
it is for the best
it is just…
it teaches me
things i always feared

and not sticking
to norms
becomes a condition
and if those
giving out these names
are truly humane

i have always
been on show
they said
i only like you
when your
vulnerability is on show

the person
i really fell in love with
they could never
really appreciate my worth

and if someone should come along
and blow this poem apart
i would like to think –
i still have all the available heart

and home truths bought in –
honest and sanity
and they taught the love i had
a lesson or two
through diagram and reason

relationships glued together
a meal for two
a started of lucky heather
forging a partnership
out of odds and ends
