someone said responsibility had died
and that no one appeared to care
because when they held the funeral
there was no one there

catholic’s knocked on my door
they put a foot in,
and they told me,
i would go to hell for sure

your put downs
and your cruel jibes
put a purpose –
into my stride

sometimes
it is easy to hear a piece of music
read a book or an article
and cry for this beautiful world

i cannot let go
not now,
now you are back in my life
and yes,
times for me are strange

that is what they were
that absolute suffocation
where you can not do a thing right
and you are damned in every situation
