that laugh opened a door
that laugh painted a room

in my mind i was holding you
in my mind life was almost perfect
to feel like this
it is a feeling of inner peace
if only i had this in my sleep

can’t really function
a figure from the past
has tied a sail to my mast
and i cannot get away

i am a sleeping giant
who is dwarfed by it all
i wish i could but i cannot –
i am just far too small
