You and the Stars

when they made you
they stamped ‘I can’t’
on your mindless brain
they gave you slag and not coal
to stoke up your train
and they taught you
that there’s always someone else to blame
when they made you
they obviously taught you
that there is distance;
between you and the stars
that was the wrong thing to teach
they should have taught you
that those stars can be in reach.
