today is sad
if it was dressed
it would be wearing greys and browns
a tatty frock overcoat
and with eyes ready to drown.
today is sad
if it took a day off
it would be sat at home
trying to make sense of this world
feeling quite alone.
today is sad
if it was human
it shoulders would be hunched
its head bowed down
it would paint only in grey
and its eyes would be ready to drown.
