I Do Not Need to Forgive You

i do not need to forgive you
just learn to turn off those feelings
try to discount –
their obvious meaning
friendship certainly has an appeal
it may take some time to locate that switch
that apparently turns off how I feel
i am not angry –
and if I am it is a trickle
it is a sad lament for my feelings
and how life is so very fickle
i do not need to forgive you
just repair –
what has broken and come apart
time to face a different future
and gather up the pieces of the past
