If I Had Lived Your Life
if i had lived your life
if i did not have this chip on my shoulder
would you have been so quick to judge
would it have been warmer instead of being colder
would i have had a soft bed instead of this boulder
if i had lived your life
would you have approved
would you have given an open armed welcome
instead of a quick bruise
when that reminds what it is like to lose
if i had lived your life
if i had not got this streak of passion
lashing like hard rain against my brain
all this mental rushing
all this insubstantial pain
if i had lived your life
would you have helped me onto the train
instead of pushing me off the tracks
would i have been given the guest room
instead of the dungeon and the rack
