They Grew Up

they grew up
one to many tantrums
and they grew up
dragged up by themselves
all the time,
wanting to be somebody else

and haven’t they grown up quick?
suddenly they are not as they were
they have changed so much
now just the future in waiting
all the screaming and shouting
all the slammed doors

they grew up the hard way
they stamped their feet
now they are acting strange
as if none of us this ever happened
as if they had always been the same
but change came
they grew up
