i did not mean to fall in love with you
it happened by chance,
in between the cups of coffee and tea
and the dirty dishes that do a merry dance
i came across it,
in amongst my telephone bills
and the foxes that live in the garden
the CD’s stacked on the shelf
and the days in 1999,
when I dreamed of being somebody else
i did not mean to fall in love with you
it happened in the living room
on the old settee’s,
down by the golden promenade
and when you first began holding me
i found it,
in the ebb and flow of these Victorian streets
the song, ‘Your Loving Arms’
and strong Marc Bolan filled beats
it happened only by chance
i was there at the side out on my own
and then I found you and it pulled me up to dance
