The Woman Died in an Accident
the woman died in an accident
the woman did not stand a chance
mortality is a stark reality
and in fairytales the princess always lives
but in reality, fate intervenes
the women died in an accident
and accident that need not have happened
but when you stare at the pictures
of a car turned around and misshaped
and the photos of those who died
think of them as normal human beings
it is sad but it happens
loved ones die every day in needless accident
children lose mums
dads lose sons, sisters too
it could be me or it could be you
she was a 20th century icon
a face that no doubt shaped a generation
but she was not a god
just another human being
in fear of the stalking loneliness
that always seemed to haunt her
do not think of it as any different
the woman died in an accident
