Time Spreads Its Wings
you look older
than the fresh faced friend
who,
was a friend all those years ago
when,
we battled youth and its brief glow
go slow,
but it went so fast
I guess we lit fireworks and rockets
as youth melted to become the past
with your hands stuffed into pockets
what did you ever make of me
or, dare I ask?
let’s splash on the memories
find previous lanes
and just bask
bask in the days that are now long gone
it is hard,
hard to remember how we had to run
you look much older
but so do I
time alters us in every way
it can never truly lie
however time does spread its wings
and truly, it does fly
