Better in Letters

I am better in letters
than in person
give me a reason to get better
I am better at speaking
in a paragraph
that goes on for a page or two
I am better in letters
than face to face with you
I can talk through the pen
but not through the mouth –
that is meant to be god given
I am better in words
I am better in the pictures I draw
face to face with you
I am just no so sure
all my words seem to fall through
some invisible space between us
that almost seems like a wall
I am better in letters
the words that I write
my feelings explained in ink
I am better in letters
better than I think
