When We Stopped Dancing Around the Living Room

we used to be –
much closer than this
all i need to understand is –
friendship
and the way it comes and goes
i need you to be happier –
than you are
do you remember the song?
we both so liked
dancing around the living room to
it was played on repeat
silliness and joy never complete
then something changed,
and,
we have not been the same since
i know,
you have had your personal struggles
and when i ask your husband –
how you are
it is not quite the same –
as life goes on,
it is natural to question its fame
it will never go back –
to how it once was
i miss that thing,
our closeness that went to soon
when we stopped –
dancing around the living room
