I Do Not Want to be a Poet

i do not want to be a poet
or drink that much wine
i do not want to be a poet
it is something to do with the rhyme
i do not want to write a book
or exchange poetic looks
i do not want to be a poet
sat there in the poetic mist
just buy me some vanity
or get me some poetic justice

i do not want to be a poet
it will give me no more riches
than i already have
it will give no more pleasure
than i already have
it will give me no more comfort
than i already have
i do not want to be,
of sticky back labels
part of a neo poetic fable
i do not want to be a poet
