Left and Right – Monday 7th March 2011

Left and Right

i never put myself –
across in a way
that makes he menu complete
i am the rock eel –
against the cod and chips
a triangle with a shaped ball
that requires a square to fit
i am the fish option –
on an indian restaurant menu
i never quite gel
with the conventions of society
mine is a story to tell
but it weaves itself to a different beat
i have never put myself –
across in way that is acceptable
i am turning right –
when the acceptable turns left
i am the debit transaction –
dreaming of cheques
maybe being me
leaves some feeling i am a threat
cocky and arrogant –
but never really sure
i am the arms reaching out –
to a love and a life that is sure
