Externalising Blame
the problem is –
you have used religion as –
your crutch
doing –
as people sometimes do
externalising blame
and simplifying –
right and wrong
when confronted last thursday
it was somebody else’s fault
i saw you,
your eyes searching for the keys
to unlock the vault
but you could not find the combination
so it has to be somebody else’s fault
and,
you are not as clever –
as the titles you give yourself
i watched on monday
as the horses left
taking away the mast
your loneliness and lack of self respect
there on show, in a cask
and,
all your life, leaning on something
that should never be a crutch
settling for second best
never really getting enough
