Insecurity

like all deeply insecure people
you attempt to mask it with over confidence
of misplaced arrogance
assuming that clevernes holds your hand
and adds glitter to every utterance
like all deeply insecure people
you seek, not to understand the world
or even yourself,
instead you look for quick fix solutions
hastily taken from the wrong shelf
unlike some deeply insecure people
you deny who you are
and any character traits
because pride and ego prevent it
and you deny it till you are blue in the face
scared of being submissive once more
scared of feeling as you did as a child
when you faced a succession of closed doors
and your self belief became wild
unlike many deeply insecure people
you have let your insecurities
push you to the edge, all those fears
have just been fed,
no longer listening to rationality
just the make believe that is in your head
