Other Lives

others with their lives…
i was told
that i should see it
from their point of view
i sighed…
i get why i should
but my mum has died
and right now, i never could
and when –
one persons bad luck –
is really a poor disguise
for self harm,
or lack of responsibility
it is hard to raise a banner
let alone and army of empathy
why should i think
of random people
who care, not a jot for me
right now, i only care for those
who care and love me
they keep me buoyant
in this sea of despair
