Wet Cement – Written Monday 7th October 2019 (Aged 44)

Wet Cement

I have put on my make-up
incorrectly again
will it ever be washed off
by such personal rain?
maybe,
i called the ceasefire too soon
maybe i am too tired –
to notice
shots are still being fired
maybe i am unplugged
or falsely wired

I have put on my make-up
incorrectly again
and my heart is heavy
like wet cement
my anxiety feels like debris –
in a storm
and hope not so well meant
here i am again
feeling fearful
why does sensitivity –
end up being so damn tearful?
