A More Beautiful Way to Breathe

i could have given you –
all the love you need
i could have resuscitated your confidence
i could have helped you breathe
i have never been –
that person you talk about
and i just cannot make it up
to fit in with your amusement park
that sits in your brain
why can’t you be honest
and admit growing up was down the drain
you have offered me
something wonderful
something truly beautiful
something so very fine
but the emotional deeds
are not ones that i can commit myself to
i am such a failure
when it comes to the dotted line
i have given you –
all the the love you need
if only you would let people in
then you will see there is a more beautiful way to breathe
