The Beat and Dance of Their Dreams

i said goodbye to someone today
i am slightly afraid
that i am an open book
pick through the chapters
why don’t you take a look
i said goodbye to someone today
i think they needed me
but i cannot be sure
i know that i found something in them
something that was never found
something that perhaps they had lost
but i am lost and rarely found
i just cannot count the cost
i said goodbye to someone today
someone for whom life did not seem fair
for someone who it should be so much better
someone to longing to share
am i haphazardly moving,
to the beat and dance of their dreams
