Insufferably Large Ego
there is always –
one person
on the edge of a situation
who will push past –
those that matter
and rush to the front
shoot up their hand
and shout,
me, me, me,
jumping up and down
it must be me!
it must be about me!
make way,
for this person
but their –
insufferably large ego
which spends most –
of this person’s life
in a bare knuckle fight
with their self loathing
me, me, me
look at them
always them
always about them
sadly, so often –
it is not
