Realisation
i realised
how shallow the people were
the hollow sound
of their shuffling feet
the constant drone
of bleat after bleat
their problems unsolved
a field full of sheep
i realised
that the real world
has more resonance
and that i did not fit in
but that was okay
that was a good thing
i realised
that all the applause was hollow
that it never came to the boil
that all my words
had the texture of graveyard soil
i realised
that they had got cold
that their lives were a mess
that has wrapped themselves
on a blanket weaved from loneliness
