Sleeper – Written Wednesday 3rd October 2001 (Aged 26)

Sleeper

i slept for three hours today
i know you understand
sleep does not come easy
it is not a disorder
just a fear of inspection
and a lack of cover
i sleep for a few hours a day
i snatch my sleep wherever i can
i know what you will say
i hope you can understand
i cannot fight the screams
i cannot stop the travelling –
in my dreams
i slept for a while
a headache took hold and it took my smile
