Fishing
the fish i never caught
the one that got away
it is the one i think of
i was always eager to fish
but my bait was only ever chance
and i was left too many times
looking for a meaningful dance
some fish swim away
they are the fish you want more
with beautiful fins,
they swim away with the keys to your door
i think some days
of how i used to fish
and how i let it get away
i really look back
but i never expected in my wildest dreams
that it could be my catch
the fish i never caught
i see it swimming
in pools deep and rich,
in the corner of her eyes
the times i could have fished
but i let it go by
the fish i never caught
