Own Not Enslave
people say,
oh, you know,
i shall not be defined by my childhood!
oh, but you are…
and there is no escape
no matter where you put it
or how many nails you bang into the crate
and then, when parents die
you feel that identity
and is no way for inner self to lie
people say,
oh, you know,
i shall not be defined by my childhood!
why?
definition does not mean you cannot change
or life is, ‘set in stone’
and that nothing will grow,
or ever change
you own your experience
you do not try to bang nails into the crate
you own your experience and your life,
not enslave yourself to it
