My Depression Wrote Me a Letter
my depression –
wrote me a letter
one in a bold typeface
it said, you need to be better
my love
stole me away
just for a day or two
then it let me go
and i ran to you
my sense of humour
told me a joke
but i already knew the punchline
even before it had spoke
my feelings told me, listen, just listen
and dare to take note
it told me of a swimmer,
one who could always float
my childhood –
tried to round me up
but all the experience beyond
it just said, you are being too tough
