Make Love Happen

they said
‘make love happen’
and,
that, ‘cupid’
had signed up
i took that –
to mean
cupid,
would steady
love’s rocky ship
but, ‘cupids arrow’
had a poison tip
and i got bruised –
with a swollen lip
everything felt down
and became a personal hit
they said
‘make love happen’
but happen it did not
it made me so crazy –
who i was, was almost forgot
hold me in your arms
make this stop
