All I Ever Did Was Try
you cannot hurt me anymore
tales of appalling behaviour
i told you why i found the relationship difficult
i tried to speak to you
but you did not want to listen
which turned the tears into a stream
then into a raging river,
which in turn, is why the relationship –
then failed to deliver
you cannot hurt me anymore
i told you that found some of your behaviour –
just a little suffocating
that i am not easy
and that i need space and time
i told you my secrets
i told you of my friends
and my mistakes aplenty
i tried to show you who i was
but you just thought i was empty
you did not want to listen
unable to take responsibility for yourself
not able to understand different relationships
you cannot hurt me anymore
