Aspiring to Happiness

aspiring to happiness
when, actually, we do not know –
what happiness means
or what we should expect
at a loss –
trying to find the context
told that to be sad,
is a world too dark
life is a joy
and we should enjoy taking part
but no one tells you,
it is not a walk in the park
aspiring to human states
that do not exist
happiness is a magic spell
based upon a wish
happiness is hard to focus on
when you are clinging to a cliff
aspiring to happiness
is a legend or a myth
a story that has been told
they sell us happiness
just to ease the cold
aspiring to happiness
