It Could Have Been Me

it could have been me
i could have been average
i could have done what he is doing
buy each other romantic things
give her a nice new ring
it could have been me
i could have taken her out
took her to a restaurant twice a week
pick up the telephone and never stop
it could have been me
i could have pretended to be normal
i could have lived out a lie
could have dispensed of my hang ups
and become someone else
i used to think it was me
i never ever realised
that is was not my fault
you just have to live out a lie
my heart is larger than the average vault
it could have been me
i do not care what he buys you
or the amusement parks he takes you to
i know he has his feelings
but he will never for you like i do
