From London to Southend – Written Saturday 29th June 1999 (Aged 24)

From London to Southend

from london to southend
from bright lights
to small but loveable town
from crazy neon nights
to daily bouts of feeling down
from london to southend
from working hard and feeling good
to working for people who drag me down
from being recognised,
as a worthwhile human being
to working with the nasty
who seem bland and have no feelings
from london to southend
a journey i never wanted to take
the belief has become a short straw
and i believe it is about to break
if only i could open a magic door
from london to southend
and then somewhere in-between
it is a depressing tale
and it is about the loss of a dream
and a child who never wanted to fail
but show, they are not a victim of their past
from london to southend
will this ever actually end?
